Overview of Jigawa state
The then Federal Military Government under General Ibrahim Babangida created Jigawa state on Tuesday, November 27, 1991, along with other nine states. The state was carved out from Kano state to stand on it own. In respect to land area, Jigawa covers about 22,410sqKm. It is bordered on the west by Kano, on the east by Bauchi and Yobe states and on the North by Katsina state, Yobe state and the Republic of Niger.
The people of Jigawa state are mostly Fulanis, as it is mainly populated by the Hausas, Fulanis, Mangawa, Badawa and Ngizimawa tribes. The state is a core Islamic state as about 98.9% of the population are Muslims, while the remaining 1.1% minority are Christians.

There are twenty-seven (27) Local Government Areas in Jigawa state. The following are towns that are situated in each of these areas;
Dutse Local Government Area
Dutse LGA is the most developed Local Government Area in Jigawa state. This is due to it being the state capital. Notable urban areas in the area are: Dutse, Duru, Dundubus, Jigwar Tsada, Kudia, Karnaya, Limawa, Madobi, Chamo, Abaya and Sakwaya.
Kazaure Local Government Area
Kazaure LGA is a renown emirate in Jigawa state. It has an administrative headquarters in Kazaure town. Other towns in the area include: Daba, Dabaza, Dandi, Gada, Kanti, Maradawa, Sabaru, Unguwar, Yamma and Ba’auzini.
Auyo Local Government Area
